Things have been busy in WAKA land lately with the Founders Cup and everything so the blog has been a bit behind but we still want to keep you up to date on what's going on in the league so here is what happened in week 3.
Our week 3 games were played on some pretty soggy field conditions which is extremely unusual at PAL. The field usually has fantastic drainage but it just couldn't keep up with the ridiculous amount of rain that we had recently had, which made for some really fun kickball.
Our first game of the night was between Asstastic Balls and Free Ballers. Now this game can be summed up very simply by me telling you that Erik was pissed after this game. Freeballers still carry the stigma of the old Masterbatters team. The Masterbatters were fun but not particularly good. Asstastic is traditionally a really fun team that has maybe lost a little bit of that jovial spirit in exchange for a competitive attitude. They had thought they could roll over the Free Ballers but were shocked by the final outcome. Free Ballers won 4-3.
Our second game of the night was between Cleats and Cleavage and We've Got The Runs in a battle of the defeateds. Remember in the beginning of the season I was telling you all about how Cleats and Cleavage was one of the 3 teams who had ever won a championship before? Yeah I can't blame you if you don't really remember that. Meanwhile the rookie We've Got the Runs has been, well, respectable, losing their first 2 games by only a run. This one was over pretty quickly as We've Got The Runs won 6-0.
Our first late game saw the Seminoles take the field against Booze on First. Booze on first scored a huge victory in this one. They were the first team of the season who did not lose by slaughter rule to the Seminoles! A huge accomplishment indeed. Still though, the Seminoles rolled. What else is new? Seminoles won 7-0.
Next up was Where My Pitches At and Barbara Ballters. I've got some exciting news for this one. I didn't have to put together a write up because Brett from Barbara Ballters wrote one up for me. After two disheartening weeks, Where My Pitches At started off with a bang against Barbara Ballters. They won the chug-off. That’s no big feat though, because Barbara Ballters is a team full of pansies who hasn’t won a chug-off in 3 seasons. Unfortunately for Where My Pitches At, the game started after the chug-off. It was all Ballters with a 14-0 win. After the game, an anonymous member of Where My Pitches At told the Ballters they win the non-assholes award. Barbara Ballters would like to thank the Seminoles and 99 Problems for being so douchey, that Where My Pitches At actually thought the Ballters were cool. It is worth noting that Ballters scored their 14 runs in only 5 innings of offense. Last week, the blog discussed whether who was better- the Seminoles who scored 14 runs in 6 innings against Where My Pitches At, or 99 Problems who scored 11 runs in 5 innings against Where My Pitches At. The answer is clearly Barbara Ballters who put up 14 runs in 5 innings. Boom. Barbara Ballters officially won 12-0 due to the 12 run cap on differential.
Last but not least was the Bonafide Guttersnipes vs 99 Problems. This was the marquis matchup of the week with both teams coming in undefeated and both teams expecting to be successful this season but neither had been tested yet. While the matchup was top notch, the field conditions on field 3 were not. The field was in more suitable condition for mud wrestling than for kickball, especially around first base. On a night when the conditions meant that anything could happen, both teams scored 2 in the first but 99 was able to scratch out another 3. In the last inning it looked like the Guttersnipes might be able to mount a rally with no outs but some pretty impressive defensive play by the 99 ladies resulted in a momentum busting double play and then the last out of the game. 99 Problems won 5-3.
