Week 1 Superlatives

Cindy from Smack My Pitch Up had a great idea of having superlatives each week. Just reply to this post to nominate your teammates or your whole team for a superlative and say why they deserve recognition. Before the next week of play I will do a post to award who I think deserves mention, based on your nominations.

So think about it. Who was the most clutch player? Who was the best chugger? Who was the best fielder? Who made the most boneheaded play? Just post a comment to this post and it will be reviewed and winners announced before the next week's games.

PAL Concession Stand

The Police Athletic League are hoping to raise money for their organization by running their concession stand during our kickball hours. The money raised from the stand goes towards helping families in their program who are struggling to make ends meet. The food is actually quite delicious too and very affordable. Make sure to grab a quick bite either before or after your game and support a great cause.

Black Angus Burger - $2.50 / $4.50 Combo
Ballpark Franks - $1.50 / $3.50 Combo
Grilled Chicken Sandwich - $3.50 / $5.00 Combo
Meatball Sandwich - $3.50 / $5.00 Combo
French Fries - $1.50
Cheese Nachos - $2.00
Popcorn, chips or candy - $1.00
Soda or water - $1.00
Gatorade or energy drink - $1.50

Combo includes fries or chips and soda or water
Cheese extra $.50

The concession stand is currently cash only but will soon be able to accept debit cards.

Id Hit It Again's Theme Game

For those of you who were in the division last season you know that Id Hit It Again (Lime green) loves to have some theme games. Last season they got dressed up as superheros, clowns, pajamas, whatever they could think of. This season they plan to do the same. In week 2 they will be doing a... well I'm not exactly sure what to call it but guys will dress up as girls and girls will dress up as guys. Id Hit It Again's captain, Erik is pretty excited about this and is really looking forward to the good ventilation that his dress will give him.

They would like to invite anyone else in the division to join them in this theme. Rumor has it that the guys on Balls N Dolls are quite excited to be able to use a theme as an excuse for their new bright pink t-shirts for at least one week.

Just remember, when you do a costume game you still need to incorporate your WAKA kickball t-shirt in whatever you are wearing.

Week 1 Starts off with a blast

Our Spring 2009 season has finally begun and what a fun night it was. There were a lot of new faces but the action was the same, FUN!

Also Available in Sober has a new name, a new name and a new look this season but unfortunately for them were not able to hold off the hot pink Balls N Dolls and lost 4-1.

The Seminoles have had to switch up their strategy this season with the changes in rules for pitching and no-munting and ended up tying the rookie Anything But Blue Balls team 2-2.

Id Hit It Again was scoring again and again in a barn burner by defeating the BA-52s 9-5. It was a good win for Id Hit It Again but giving up 5 runs won't help them in the tiebreaker in the standings. This season we look at winning percentage first, then total wins, then runs against.

It took Smack My Pitch Up and All Banged Up extra innings to settle their game with this defensive showdown ending at 1-0 in favor of the veteran Smack My Pitch Up team. A rematch was held at MacDinton's on the flip cup tables which unfortunately did not go as well as the game did for Smack My Pitch Up as All Banged Up schooled the team in blue. It was an impressive showing from the rookie team.

Quit Yer Pitchin may be thinking they shouldn't have changed colors this past offseason as they were defeated by their old t-shirts. Suck My Kick won 4-2.

Don't Touch Our Balls are back to the winning ways with a 5-0 victory over Saved By The Ball. I am pretty sure Don't Touch Our Balls has ever lost once in a game they didn't forfeit and that was against the Seminoles in the championship game of the playoffs last season.

Welcome to the Spring 2009 Season of WAKA's FL Breaker Division

We are all set to go and we begin play tomorrow night at 7pm. Be sure to check out all of the division information at www.kickball.com/flbreaker. Don't forget that PAL will be serving concessions this season and you can check out their menu online. The food is inexpensive and delicious and the money goes to a good cause.

So who will be the division champion this season? Only time will tell. Last season Dale of the Seminoles brought in a secret weapon and it paid off as the Seminoles won the playoff tournament. Rumor has it that this season Dale has another secret weapon, though don't expect to see this secret weapon at MacDinton's after the games.
