Week 2 Results

Week 2 is now in the books and hopefully everyone is having lots of fun. We are starting to see who the teams are and who has the most talent. You may define "talent" however you want. There was lots of good defense again this week, even the teams that last week looked like they had never heard of the word defense played well in the field. MacDinton's was a ton of fun, even if I did have to leave a little earlier than I usually do. I had to get home to finish up some recipes for feeding the homeless on Wed. No that is not a line, it is true and while we were playing kickball I had something cooking in the slow cooker at home. So anyways lets get to the action.

The Seminoles and Don't Touch Our Balls renewed their storied rivalry. Luckily the riot police stayed at home and the national guard did not have to be recalled from Iraq and Afghanistan to bring order to this game. There was quite a bit of argument and heated discussion about string theory. Neither team could get Steven Hawking on the phone so they had to settle their argument by playing kickball. Unfortunately we may never know the true nature of the fundamental building blocks of physics because the Seminoles and Don't Touch Our Balls tied 2-2. Good Luck to Molly and Scarlet from DTOB who will be running in a triathlon this weekend.

On Field B we had Raging Balls and Anything But Blue Balls. That's a lot of balls. After their dismal defensive showing last week, the green team decided to switch things up on defense, alot. In fact they started using their firedrill defense. After every pitch the defense would yell "firedrill" and everyone would run to a different position. It didn't take very long to realize that it would wear them out pretty quick so they switched to every other pitch. It was a close game but Anything But Blue Balls took it in the end and won 1-0.

Vicious and Delicious had a secret weapon this week. The spice girls. Some of their girls got all girl powered out, complete with flashy boom mic headphones. They would have been favorites to win this week's challenge for the team with the best costumes of singers but I didn't see them at MacDinton's so they were disqualified. What Vicious and Delicious really wanted, what they really really wanted was a win on the field and they got that with a 2-1 victory over Tech USA - Where My Pitches At.

Suck My Kick faced off against We've Got the Runs. I have absolutely no idea what happened other than that Suck My Kick won 4-3.

Your Mom Makes a Dry Roast and I Already Hit That either both played some incredible defense or absolutely terrible offense. After 6 scoreless innings (and the refs walking off the field with the bases and cones) the teams decided they still had time to get in one more inning. Your Mom Makes a Dry Roast was able to score in the top of the inning on a fielder's choice. I Already Hit That wasn't able to match them and the Dry Roasters won 1-0.

New Kicks on the Block kicked off against Kick In A Box in a kicktastic kickstravaganza. It was the kickinest game of the week. OK that's enough of that. The best news from this game is that not only did Kick In A Box show up early for the game but they even showed up in force at MacDinton's. It was a proud moment. Unfortunately for them the final result of the game wasn't so proud as New Kicks On The Block won 3-1.

The captain of the Bull Gators had envisioned his team as the A squad from the Don't Touch Our Balls schism. They were hoping to inherit the old team's dominance but so far they haven't been able to capture the old green team mojo. Last week they lost to the Seminoles but this week they faced off against Ballkickers who lost big last week. Somehow Ballkickers were able to get their defense under control but weren't able to spark anything on offense. Bull Gators ended up victorious 1-0. Does anyone remember seeing either team at the bar?

The Balled and the Beautiful faced off against Quit Yer Pitchin. Its late and I'm tired. I've got nothing. Quit Yer Pitchin won 3-2.

Which of these unblemished teams has the best chance to win the regular season?

Do you know what a "dry roast" is?

The Seminoles were overcome by a rapid outbreak of the "Bobby Bowden Flu".

This is a rare but confined disease only transmittable from one FSU fan to another. It's most dangerous when a large group of FSU fans congregate on days immediately following FSU losses.

Bobby Bowden Flu is not harmful but it is extremely annoying to be surrounded by those infected. Victims become grouchy and irritable and experience an abnormal amount of anxiety towards others. Other side effects include uncontrollable urges to cry, whine and complain about anything and everything.

Due to their condition, BBF victims are easy targets of ridicule and mocking which only worsens their condition. Any comments about the FSU football program and/or reminder of a losing score may be enough provoke an instant riot.

There is no cure for BBF. Once infected, the victim will be a host for the disease and likely pass it along to future offspring. It's a vicious cycle of relentless misery and pain.

Our condolences.
