We have a new division for a new summer season so we have changed the blog. Our new division is FL Big Guava and plays on Wednesday nights. The Blog is now WAKA Tampa.
We've got new teams, new colors, new players, new night of play but all with the same fun, same fields and same awesome bar.
If you missed our pre-season party, what's wrong with you? We had a great turnout and the inaugural season should be a really fun one.
So why is it called Big Guava? Well the Big Guava is a nickname for Tampa. Don't believe me? Read this. So apparently in the 70's Tampa wanted to be like New York and came up with Big Guava instead of Big Apple. Its easy to spot the other similarities between the cities, what with our vibrant downtown, the many theaters and our convenient subway system. One thing they don't have, Guavaween (see the guava connection now) but they do have the Bronx.
