Epic, that is the best word to describe the action this past week in the FL Breaker League. So many heroics, so many key plays, so many drinks at MacDinton's. Now that the hangover has subsided, its time to review what happened.
Our first game of the night had D's Nutz gearing up for an easy victory against Masterbatters, or that's what they thought. This game turned into an epic fail for D's Nutz. They scored 2 in the top of the first but Masterbatters were able to counter with 3 in the bottom frame. After that, both offenses went stale until the 6th inning, sort of. With a runner on and 2 outs, a D's Nutz slugger took a ball deep over everything for what should have been a go ahead 2 run home run. The only problem was that he was about 3 feet in front of home plate when he kicked it. That's a no no according to rule 9.02b and results in a foul ball in rule 13.02g in the WAKA Rule Book so the kicker was called back and ended up popping out on the next pitch. That chill you felt at about 7:45 was hell freezing over as Masterbatters recorded their first win of the season. Masterbatters won 3-2.
Field 2 saw the marquis matchup of the night as Suck My Kick faced off against 99 Problems. Both teams were ready for a showdown and 99 Problems made it a mandatory bar night for their team. Weeks ago, every player was told that April 12th would be a designated date when everyone on the team should make sure they go to the bar and a few even thought ahead and took Wednesday off from work. Suck My Kick got an early run in the first inning and 99 Problems wasn't able to counter until the 5th inning. After 6 they were still tied and there was still time left on the clock so both teams decided to go one extra frame. In the top of the 7th inning Suck My Kick were able to jam the bases loaded with no outs, poising themselves for the victory. That was until 99 Problems pulled an amazing triple play to end the threat. A line drive was kicked between the shortstop and 3rd baseman but 99 Problems third baseman, Ryne made a great grab and tagged the girl out who had wandered off second and quickly fired his cannon home to try to get the runner trying to tag up from third. The epic triple play was fittingly finished off by 99 Problems first baseman, Eppich who fielded Ryne's throw and nailed the baserunner. 99 Problems maintains their undefeated season with a tie but dominated on the flip cup table afterwards for the win.
Our late games got started out with Asstastic Balls and Barbara Ballters. It should be no surprise that Barbara Ballters showed some good defense but Asstastic Balls was able to counter it with even better defense. As per usual, Asstastic was able to have one good offensive inning, this time in the second when they put up 2. Later, Barbara Ballters was looking to mount a rally with a runner on third and no outs. The ball was kicked to shallow center field where Fuego was able to make the catch and quickly throw the ball home, allowing his catcher to tag the baserunner (who was definitely not Carl Lewis) out for the stunning double play. Asstastic Balls wins in an epic upset 2-0.
The late game on Field 2 had the Seminoles and Jagerballs. The Seminoles were looking to bounce back after they had been winless in their last two games. Meanwhile Jagerballs were looking to do something after forfeiting last week. It was an epic fail for Jagerballs as they were never even able to get off the ground. It was all summed up pretty well by the Jagerballs at the bar when they said, "We don't take it too seriously, they do". Seminoles won 6-0.
The last game of the night showed Booze on First taking on Balls and Dolls. This was another close game with some excitement in the late innings. I was told that there was nothing funny about this game at all, just straight up intense. The teams were tied at 1 going into the last inning. In that last inning, Booze on First's Sam was able to make it to first base. The next kicker was a girl and Balls and Dolls pulled all of their fielders forward. The ground ball was fielded by Balls and Dolls and they decided to make the throw to 2nd to get the lead runner. Unfortunately the ball was overthrown and went into centerfield where they had no players so the ball just kept rolling and Sam was able to run like a princess and score. She was pretty excited about scoring because she had never gotten past 2nd base in her life (pay attention guys, she's cute). Balls and Dolls tried to claim that because the ball was overthrown, Sam should have been held to one base and shouldn't have been allowed to score. That's an epic rules knowledge fail as according to rule 10.07 an overthrow is only a restriction on the runner when the ball goes into foul territory, so Sam's run counted and paved the way to the Booze on First victory. Booze on First won 1-0.

Thee Seminoles won 7-0 last week. I know after you get choke slammed and have your face smeared in the mud, it gets difficult to keep score. Don't scrape the sand out of your bikini briefs just yet. Next week Seminoles win 5-0 edging out the orange man pleasers taking first place regular season trophy.
Nope, sorry. According to the official score that was given to me the score was 6-0.
